DDR4 prices soar

  The latest spot price of DDR4 DRAM, including specifications such as 8Gb and 16Gb, soared by nearly 8% in a single day, which made the industry stunned. Since the beginning of this season, the quotation has more than doubled, which not only crossed the break-even point of DRAM factory, but also reached the level of profiteering. The profit of South Asia Branch DRAM factory, which focuses on DDR4, is expected to follow.

 

  The industry pointed out that Samsung, Micron and other big manufacturers locked in the high-end DRAM market such as DDR5 and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and will stop supplying DDR4 one after another, which has caused the spot price of DDR4 to rise sharply recently, but the single-day increase is mostly within 2%.

 

  According to the past example, if the spot price of DRAM rises by more than 5% a day, "there will be major events", such as the explosion and shutdown of international factories, or the 921 earthquake in Taiwan Province that year. Simply put, it will make the market rush for goods.

 

  Nowadays, DDR4 is not only quoted at a higher price than DDR5, but also shows a "price upside down". The spot price even rose by nearly 8% a day. The industry bluntly said: "I have never seen such a big increase in the spot price in a single day for at least ten years. 」

 

  DRAMeXchange's latest offer, the spot price of DDR4 surged in an all-round way last Friday (13th), DDR4 8Gb(1G×8)3200 rose by 7.8%, with an average price of $3.775; DDR4 8Gb(512M×16)3200 is up 7.99%, with an average price of $3.824; DDR4 16Gb(1G×16)3200 rose by 7.9%, with an average price of $8.2.

 

  Looking at the time axis, the spot price of DDR4 8Gb(1G×8)3200 has risen from the average price of $2.73 on May 30th to the current price of $3.775 in just half a month since June, up 38.27%.

 

  Since the beginning of this season, it has risen from $1.63 on March 31, and has soared nearly 1.32 times so far.

 

  The spot price of DDR4 16Gb(1G×16)3200 rose from the average price of USD 6.1 on May 30th to USD 8.2 now, and rose by 34.42% in the first half of June. Since the beginning of this season, it has risen from $3.95 on March 31, and has risen by more than 1.07 times.

 

  At present, the latest spot quotation of DDR4 has rushed to the price around the first quarter of 2022.
