DDR4 is twice as expensive as DDR5

 

According to statistics, the spot price of DDR4 has risen by about 50% in just two weeks, and the prices of various capacities have more than doubled since the beginning of this season. South Asia Technology is now the world's largest DDR4 supplier, enjoying the benefits of skyrocketing quotes, and Huabang has also benefited.
 

Industry insiders bluntly stated that although the previous generation of DRAM chips were priced reasonably due to relatively limited supply, this time the price of DDR4 chips, which are also 16Gb specifications, is twice as expensive as DDR5, which can be called a "historic moment", highlighting the serious shortage of supply in the current DDR4 market and the continuous high fever of downstream price chasing for goods.
 

In the past two weeks, the spot price of DDR4 has skyrocketed, and it is expected that the subsequent contract prices will rise synchronously. In addition, original manufacturers have already booked to withdraw from the mid to low end market, and the supply shortage is expected to continue.
 

The rise in spot prices for DDR4 this time is due to multiple factors. Indicator factories such as Samsung, Micron, and Changxin Storage have successively announced the suspension of DDR4 supply, which has begun to brew this wave of upward trend. In addition, recently the United States intends to cancel the chain effect caused by the exemption of mainland production equipment for major companies such as Samsung and SK Hynix.
 

Major manufacturers such as Samsung and Micron have locked in the high-end DRAM market for DDR5 and high bandwidth memory, and will gradually stop supplying DDR4, causing a shocking rise in spot prices for DDR4 in recent times.
