The Differentiated Advantages of Static Random Access Memory(SRAM)

Unlike dynamic random access memory(DRAM)and high-bandwidth memory(HBM),which need to frequently transfer data between the processor and external memory,static random access memory(SRAM)is directly etched in the processor logic,which can realize high-speed data transmission with extremely low energy consumption.Michael Stewart,managing partner of Microsoft venture capital fund M12,described static random access memory(SRAM)as the ultimate"scratch pad"for AI agents to conduct instant reasoning in 2026.Although this design is not suitable for the cutting-edge model with trillions of parameters,it is very suitable for models with less than 8 billion parameters,low-latency and real-time interactive tasks,edge reasoning,voice,robotics,and the Internet of Things(IoT).And this just corresponds to the rapid growth trend after 2025:model distillation and small model explosion.Enterprises no longer only pursue the largest model,but shrink,make faster and cheaper the model and deploy it in more scenarios.
Groq's Static Random Access Memory(SRAM)technology plays a key role here.It can be used as a fast access area of the agent to realize near-instant state retrieval.NVIDIA is combining its Dynamo framework and KVBM to build a"reasoning operating system"for the future reasoning server,which can store the state hierarchically in static random access memory(SRAM),dynamic random access memory(DRAM),high bandwidth memory(HBM)and flash memory to meet the access requirements of different speeds.
